The Azores Island of San Miguel is the best hub to visit the other Azores islands. Most International flights arrive in the capital Ponta Delgada
Also the biggest Marina and main harbour of the Azores is located in Ponta Delgada.
Where to stay?
​​Most tourists with a limited holiday timing will stay on the Island of San Miguel and will not visit the other islands. But there is plenty to see, so no problem.
Renting a car is the best way to explore the Island. Public Transport is excellent but the number of busses are limited.
The best places to stay are outside Ponta Delgada.

Visit the Island at The Start or at the End of Your Sailing Holiday
Most of our clients spent before or at the end of a sailing holiday with Azores Sailing a few days on the Island of San Miguel. Before they depart or at the start of their holiday.
You need approximately 3 days to explore the island. Distances by car are short but as the island is a vulcanic island, some roads are narrow and steep.
